During a high-level Dutch Trade Mission, the Minister of Infrastructure and Environment of the Netherlands, Mrs. Melanie Schultz van Haegen, visited India to further strengthen ties and bilateral trade relationships between the two countries. The focus of the mission was on integrating logistics and sharing of knowledge and developments.
Royal Haskoning and many other leading companies joined the Trade Mission and had an opportunity to showcase their expertise and presence in the country. Our colleague, Niek van der Sluijs (based in Delhi office) represented as Indian counterpart from Royal Haskoning during the whole event.
Haskoning India, through Royal Haskoning, has its roots in The Netherlands; one of the world’s leading nations in maritime and logistics. The Netherlands and also Royal Haskoning are leading the way in terms of innovation and sustainability in the maritime and logistics industries.
Royal Haskoning contributed successfully on a number of key areas of expertise during this mission. Half the day during the event was devoted to a workshop in Delhi on the future of inland water transport as part of an ongoing study for coal shipments between Kolkata and Farakka. Our colleague Ekke Oosterhuis (Bulk Handling Expert) delivered a presentation during the workshop on “floating transshipment options” and also touched on the perspective of optimising the entire logistic chain up to the power plant and including the sea borne transport.
As a part of the Mission, the delegation travelled to Mumbai to attend the event “Maritime by Holland” which was organized in collaboration with HME. Our colleague, Gary Courtnadge (Shipyard expert) presented our leading role and detailed experience in Shipyard Planning, Design and Construction.
Theme: Indian Shipbuilding & Repairs for 21st Century
Royal Haskoning was invited to participate in the SMM Event (Shipbuilding, Machinery & Marine technology) which was held during 7 – 9 April 2011 in Mumbai.
Royal Haskoning was represented by Gary Courtnadge who also gave a presentation on “Design of Shipbuilding & Ship repair Dry Docks & Dock Gates”. We provided useful technical insights in the development of the shipyards and dockgates. We also showcased our extensive involvement with world’s leading clients in Singapore, UAE and Qatar as well as our extensive experience in India in GSL, Mazagon Dock and DGNP, which attracted the interest of many participants.
Both these subjects are examples of the wide variety of services that we are able to deliver across India and the world. We feel that it was a very successful mission and are looking forward to continue to add value through our knowledge and expertise on Indian projects and clients.
