Royal Haskoning was engaged by Independent Public Business Corporation (IPBC) to provide consultancy services for the Detailed Design Lae Port Tidal Basin Project, Phase I, after previous involvement in the Project Preparatory Technical Assistance (PPTA) programme.

The scope of works consisted of preparing detailed design and tender documentation for the Marine Works: dredging, quay wall and revetment structures. The Works also included the Land-based Works which were submitted under a Design and Construct type of procurement.

To enable successful completion of the project Royal Haskoning carried out a.o. hydraulic studies, reviews of rock quarries and geotechnical analysis. The study was concluded with a costs estimate for the works.

Scope of Work:

Haskoning India was responsible for

  • Detailed design and drawings for the following items:
    • Terminal Layout for 200,000 TEU container terminal (first phase)
    • Dredging of basin of 700m by 400m and entrance channel
    • Various Revetment structures over a length of 2,000m
    • Reclamation areas with a total 20ha
    • 250m Wharf Facilities (including reinforcement arrangement)
    • Navigation Aids
  • Conceptual design:
    • Pavement of Port Link Road and Container Yard
    • Creek Diversion
    • Drainage & Sewer System
    • Electricity & Water Supply
    • Communication System
    • Yard Facilities & Buildings
