Second Chemical/POL Berth at Pirpau, Mumbai Port

Mumbai Port Trust had proposed to implement the project for construction of Second Liquid Chemicals/Specialized Grades of POL Berth off their First Chemical Berth in Mumbai. This Second Chemicals/POL Berth forms a part of MbPT’s Master Plan prepared for the development of waterfront.
The First bulk liquid chemicals/specialized grade of POL bulk berth constructed by Mumbai Port Trust, is operational since December 1996. Since then there has been an increase in the POL traffic from 2004 leading to berth occupancy of more than 79% and MbPT has decided to construct Second Chemical berth. Haskoning India had been appointed by Mumbai Port Trust for Detailed Design, Engineering and Construction Supervision for Second Liquid Chemical Berth. The berth is designed to cater ship size of 40,000Tonne DWT.

- Dredging of berth pocket, extension of present approach channel and turning circle,
- Construction of berthing dolphin, Mooring dolphin, Loading platform
- Approach trestle
- Control tower building
- Fire fighting facilities
- Electrical system
- Preparation of contract document
- Tender invitation and evaluation of bidders
- Construction management
